Matu spent a short time there also this afternoon until he was in the stream when the earthquake happened and he decided to pack up. Yesterday we caught 40 birds of 8 species with all but 1 being new. Today Matu caught 9 new birds of 4 species.

Combined totals of species caught were -
Blackbird - 1
Dunnock - 1
Chaffinch - 6
Greenfinch - 5 and 1 recap, a bird banded at the Zoo in May 2010
Goldfinch - 8
House Sparrow - 19 the 15 on Sunday was the most caught at this site in a day, possible due to the removal of some large trees making it more suitable for this species.
Silvereye - 5
Tui - 1
Eastern Rosella - 2  what appeared to be a pair and the first of this species caught at this site.
